We are a small, neighborhood, play-based preschool serving children ages 2-5 in beautiful Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Ca. We are conveniently located just off of I-5.
What is Play-Based Learning?
Play-based learning is playing with a purpose. Playing is how children discover the world around them and begin to make connections. By rooting their preschool experience in play, children will be able to develop age-appropriate tools through exploration. Children have time to participate in free play where their only limit is their creativity as well as directed-play in which they are given a task by their teacher to be able to learn through the task process.
Some of this is done naturally at home. If you have seen your child participate in dramatic/role play, working with blocks, art activities, or sensory bins then you have already been introduced to this concept!
Meet Our Director
Ms. Allison holds a Master's in Education and brings a wealth of diverse instructional experience to her role. As a parent and an active community member, she possesses a unique understanding of the intricacies involved in working with preschoolers and managing a school environment. Her background includes teaching both general education and special education students, as well as providing personalized, one-on-one support to foster individual student growth.
Outside of school, Ms. Allison loves to spend time with her two wonderful kids and puppy. When not at school, you can find Ms. Allison at the beach or walking her dog on the Rail Trail.

Staff
Engaging guides that let your little one lead the way! Our staff is specifically hired to provide an educational and warm, caring experience for your child. Our teachers are certified professionals who continuously have your child’s best interests at heart. They are not only here to teach thier students letters, numbers, and how to wash hands correctly – but to help take care of boo-boos and be an extension of their loving home while you cannot be with them.
Enrichment Activities
We know learning does not stop in the classroom! That is why we offer additional activities to help supplement your child’s learning and growth in all areas. About once a month, the school has a visitor for “Community Connections” – a program that brings in knowledgeable professionals from around our community to share their learning with the students. These extra learning opportunities help our students understand how what they learn fits into the world around them.
Additionally, we offer add-on dance, yoga, and martial arts classes (each once a week), which take place at the school. For this optional program, parents have the opportunity to sign their student up for a session at a time!
Play Yard
We are incredibly fortunate to have a large, 7,200-square-foot play yard. Students play with their class in a designated space daily, working on their communication, conflict resolution, fine motor, and gross motor skills. Each classroom works in a separate space in the yard during the morning so that they can participate in age-appropriate activities and games. In the afternoons, students come together in a mixed group to play together and have a chance to interact with all students. In our play yard, students have access to climbing equipment, swings, scooters, trikes, play cars, sand toys, water tables, our community garden, and more!
